1st Team Season Review

Updated: Mar 30, 2019

Playing in the BUCs Southern Premiership for the third year, the 1st XV have been competing at the top level and no longer aim to simply retain their position in this league. With both high retention of previous 1st team players and the intake of many fresh faces into the squad at the start of the year, including high calibre athletes with U20s England caps, the team has grown in strength and confidence. With a tough start to the season coming up against reigning champs Exeter at Sandy Park, we had games with mixed performances as the team gelled. Confidence was restored with an exemplary win against Oxford and a narrow defeat against historic rivals Cardiff Metropolitan 1st. Following an initial loss at home against premiership newbies Swansea, we went back fighting for the final game before the festive period and a nail-biting win of 22-17 allowed us to remain 4th place contenders. The new year saw the return of the infamous Lucy Attwood and the highlight game of the season so far was an incredible performance against Hartpury where we lost only by 26-22 with a shortened match due to injury and the securement of 2 crucial bonus points. With only Exeter at home to play, we have secured our 4th position in the league and will be flying up north for the cup game in the near future. Great things are coming.

Season highlight: Hartpury 26-22 loss
